As part of Imagine: Awe and Wander – Fieldwork Festival 2025, Year 5 set out to explore how places can transform! Their destination? The iconic Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park – a place once home to industry, then to athletes, and now to vibrant community life. With fieldwork sheets in hand and eyes wide open, the children studied how the area has been regenerated since the 2012 Olympic Games. From modern housing to green spaces, from sculptures to sporting venues, they investigated how regeneration can breathe new life into a place. Through observation, sketching, and thoughtful discussion, Year 5 discovered that geography isn’t just about maps – it’s about people, purpose, and the power to change places for the better.
