We are thrilled to share the remarkable experience our selected Year 6 students had the privilege of enjoying. As part of a Black British ballet project, our students attended a mesmerizing performance titled ‘Island Movements’ by Oxygen Arts. This exceptional performance delved into the powerful narrative of the Windrush generation, weaving a captivating tale that left our students in awe.

‘Oxygen Arts’ (for more information, visit oxygenarts.com) collaborated with the Black British Ballet to create this stunning production. The performance explored themes close to the hearts of many, shedding light on the Windrush generation’s journey with depth and grace.

Following the enchanting ballet, our Year 6 students engaged in a Q&A session. They had the unique opportunity to ask questions to the talented dancers, delving into their inspirations and emotions while performing. The exchange was both enlightening and inspiring, and our students left with a deeper appreciation for the art of ballet and the stories it can tell.

The performance and Q&A session were not only educational but also profoundly moving, leaving a lasting impact on our young learners. We believe in providing diverse and meaningful educational experiences that go beyond the classroom, and this event perfectly exemplified that commitment.

Our heartfelt thanks to ‘Oxygen Arts’ for bringing this extraordinary experience to our students, and to our Year 6 students for their enthusiastic participation. It was a day filled with art, culture, and inspiration, reminding us of the power of storytelling through dance.

We look forward to more enriching experiences for our students in the future, and we’re excited to witness their continued growth and appreciation for the arts.
